This is a very good basic drone for beginner and the price is decent considering this is more like a “mid-size” drone which can fly much faster comparing to those compact indoor drones. The package comes with Syma X5A-1 drone, battery, remote control, USB charger, spare propellers, propeller guards (optional installation) and detailed user manual. The remote control requires 4 AA batteries to operate and those aren’t included, while the drone is using 3.7V 300 mAh Li-poly battery. Charging time is about 1.5-2 hours for me and it can fly roughly 5-8 mins per battery.

Don’t make my mistake…

Cheap way to learn how to fly a drone. I made the mistake of buying a very expensive one for my first flight. There is a bit of skill in a 6 axis drone. Need lots of parts and repairs on expensive drone already. Don’t buy a Cadillac before you learn to drive. Syma makes an excellent beginners drone for around 40 bucks, wish I had known about the Syma before buying expensive drone. It handles as well as the expensive one I bought. Trust me, there is a lot of skill to master one of these things, especially the yaw. Best go cheap money wise, and get a quality product to learn. I actually feel like a 5th grader that paid for college before knowing how to spell. Thanks Syma. Looking forward to many more flights.

The drone is a great value. Given the price, it has exceeded my expectations. I have a relatively easy time controlling the drone and battery life is good. This drone is great for beginners in my opinion because it’s kind of slow and is full sized. The body seems pretty durable as I’ve crashed the thing into roofs and bushes and it’s been attacked by my dog. The only con is that body is really light, so windy conditions will be very difficult to handle. I recommend buying some extra batteries but be careful to look for batteries that specifically note X5A-1. Do not buy the batteries listed under “Frequently bought together”. Many sellers will try to sell you batteries that work for that indicate they will work with the: X5 X5C X5SW X5C-1 X5SW. These batteries have a different connection that will not work with the X5A-1. You can buy adapters, but often the batteries are too large to comfortably used in the X5A-1. The correct batteries can be a little hard to find, but I have purchased 4 on amazon at different times.

Fun little drone.

Got this drone for my husband and son to play with together. I actually ended up using it the most and my son always asked to play with the “robot.

Great drone for learning

I have 5 drones and this is one of my favorites. I’m still learning and this drone is great for practice. It does not have automatic altitude control nor does it have headless mode but that’s actually a good thing. If you are going to fly drones it’s better to learn how to manually control the craft rather than over rely on software. It’s quick but not so fast as to overwhelm you. Some of my other drones are so quick you can get into trouble in the blink of an eye but this guy is more forgiving. The battery life is so-so but the range of the transmitter is not bad. It’s quite tough and big enough to see at a distance.

This was my first drone and it is amazing, not just for the price, amazing period! Granted the price is nice so I was not worried about breaking it while learning to fly. Even after learning, it is so much fun to fly around, I am now hooked. The two batteries it came with are enough for me, I have them both charged after work and do some quick flying to get my fix in. The lights are pointed the wrong way, red is forward, but since I was learning to fly anyway this did not matter. The instructions are crud, like seriously, but that made it even more challenging and fun to learn. One thing; after linking the controller re-level the drone on a flat surface by pointing both sticks down and to the right until the drone fast flashes and stops, and again after each crash, that pointer right there is worth its weight in gold. I tell everyone it is worth the price, all day every day, twice on Sundays. Just do it, you know you want to.
